Praise God!!

If you read a previous blog, you know my feelings about the conviction of the young men in Jena, Louisiana. Praise God! Here is the link to the latest on the "civil war saga" in Jena.

Motherhood ~~ God is the man of my home...

Just when I think I have the mother-thing down, something comes along and blows me away. And I wonder if I will ever get the Mom thing down pat. Just when I think my sons are on their way to adulthood, one of them does something totally and completely stupid...and I have to rethink my whole plan. And wonder if have done ANYTHING at all right in the last 14 years.

I thank God for helping me and my sons so many times throughout the years of singlehood. Relying on God is all that has gotten me to this point. I remember a couple of weeks after my divorce, I was praying, "Lord, how will I ever make it through the next 18 years????" He has provided, supplied, carried me, and been there every step of the way. And I know He will continue to do so, no matter what happens. Sometimes when I open my mouth to mete out the punishment, it has to be Him talking. Because I am just too tired.

People talk about how the 'empty nest' is so bad. It will be an accomplishment. Raising two sons with no male in house, has been hard. I think, once i get them 'grown' and they are out of college and on their own, will be just fine. I will have completed my task from God. And maybe rest. Ya think?

Job 16:20 My intercessor is my friend, as my eyes pour out tears to God.

Still fighting the Civil War

When I lived in Shreveport in the 90's I was appalled the way racism still occurred. I would go out to eat with my black friends, male and female, and invariably we would be ignored by the hostess, and be seated when no one else was waiting.

On my Facebook account, I came across this atrocity. Please watch this video. It happened this year.

Sadness Sunday

Sitting here, switching between "Bourne Identity" and KTXS, thanking God that I live in a house at one of the highest points in Atown...praying for those who have flood waters in their homes, and for the family of Rita, my friend from BAM. While I know that she is at home with Him now, I worry about her children and husband.
Life is hard, and death so early to one who loved Him is harder. Things we will never be able to understand.

Rita so loving, so committed to her children
ready for whatever she had to face.
Strong in adversity,
stable and consistent,
doing what she needed to do
to make life better for her kids.

Little did we know
she would leave us
so soon.
Or we would
miss her
so much.

No more
planagrams.
No more
wands.
No more
cloaks.
No more
dancing flowers.
No more
hugs.
